Kaliopi & the Blues Messengers have honed in on seven selected works of Memphis Minnie as a foundation and included a homage to Koko Taylor having developed their unique texture of double-bass & brushes shufflin’ grooves, layered with dixie piano, weaving clarinet, and delta guitar, topped with Kaliopi's soulful vocals for these powerful heroine herstory legends (summaries of tracks legend and interpretations included):

Black Cat Blues: A sexually liberating song celebrating ownership of one's own body within the sex industry as a working woman and madam in her house.

Kissin' In The Dark: A song shining a light on forbidden love, unplanned pregnancies, unprotected sex, morning sickness, and shotgun weddings.

Messin' With The Blues: A song exposing a groomer's use and abuse of love and trust selling favours for fame, and dangling carrots and crystals for control & ownership.

Hoodoo Lady: A song valuing imagination and boundless magic beyond intellectual reasoning limitations under subordination, cruelty, and displacement.

When the Levee Breaks: A song resonating with climate change that was particularly felt for our friends in Lismore and Northern Rivers during the 2022 floods.

Troublin' Blues: A song reflecting our current struggles with the cost of living, housing crisis, employment, power, fuel, and relationships.

Dirty Mother Fur Ya: A song protesting domestic violence, substance abuse, systemic corruption, and community nuisance to a woman's vengeful settlement.

I Hate To See The Sun Go Down: A song rejecting sundown syndrome and depression with suicidal tendencies prevalent after a long day or life of struggling with oppression.

Chauffeur Blues: An empowering song celebrating matriarchal leadership steering a driving car and controlling one's direction at all costs.

"I’ve been embracing the blues since my last compilation release ‘Love Loss & Mental Health” which seems a lifetime ago… And ironically during that tumultuous chapter or chapters of life, I was blue, releasing Rock influenced by Blues with Jazz and Soul.

But now it’s Simple... I play, sing and write the 'Blues' feeling more at peace than ever before. Performing is my purpose, the stage my home, the audience and colleagues my family, and my guitar an extension of my voice". Blues is my world I've returned to.

In 2022, Kaliopi & the Blues Messengers became the host band for Double Trouble Blues Sessions to support some of our country's national blues icons such as Geoff Achison, Ian Collard, Jimi Hocking, and Steve Sedegreen as well as support to unearth some of our country's treasures such as Women In Blues (MBAS), Willy J (Bad Books) and Aaron Pollock. Kaliopi & The Blues Messengers regularly perform the Blues Circuit around Melbourne and greater Victoria, NSW and ACT, and now have been invited to travel the nation and abroad to tour since the release of their debut ‘Blues For Minnie’. Kaliopi & the Blues Messengers honed in on pre-WW delta blues and arranged the works of Memphis Minnie as a foundation having developed their unique texture using the fretless and double bass building from Jug Delta Bass, adding flavours of early Dixie-like piano, weaving clarinet blues licks, and Delta Blues guitar over shuffling brushes and skin waks, topped with Kaliopi's powerfully soulful vocals.

In between band shows, Kaliopi has been regularly jamming and headlining the Blues Jam Clubs and Association Circuit (including, Research Blues Club, Gippsland Rhythm & Blues Club, Rokewood Blues Club, Bendigo Blues Club, Melbourne Blues Collective, Blues Roulette, Eastern Blues Association, 90 Miles Blues, Hume Blues Club, Elwood Blues Club, Melbourne Blues Appreciation Society, and Stingoes Blues).
