Artist Bio – Kaliopi & The Blues Messengers

Kaliopi & The Blues Messengers deliver award-winning modern blues steeped in Delta soul, Chicago grit and cinematic storytelling. Led by vocalist, guitarist and songwriter Kaliopi Stavropoulos, the band bridges the lineage of early blueswomen with a contemporary, emotionally charged sound. Their debut album Blues for Minnie earned praise from Blues Blast Magazine (USA) and national airplay, while The Devil’s Voodoo Curse (2024) won the VIC/TAS Blues Award for Emerging Artist and spent over eleven months in independent blues charts. In 2025 they continue their evolution with “How The Caged Bird Sings,” a blues narrative inspired by Maya Angelou and signalling a new creative chapter ahead of their 2026 album. With a selection of top Australian musicians, the band’s performances are electric, soulful and deeply expressive — blues as liberation, fire and emotional truth.

With a perfect GPA of 4.0 from Berklee College of Music’s Advanced Blues Guitar Program, where she studied under Professor Michael Williams, Kaliopi has carved out a reputation as one of the most electrifying performers on today’s blues scene.

Described by Steven Jones, President of the USA’s Crossroads Blues Club, as delivering “sizzling guitar with howling vocals”, she brings raw authenticity and fire to every stage.

Her acclaimed album Devil’s Voodoo Curse (VIC/TAS Melbourne Blues Appreciation Society) showcases her unique blend of tradition and innovation, cementing her international recognition, before her new single, How The Caged Bird Sings (out Nov 14, nominated best VIC/TAS blues song MBAS 2025 & best Australasia blues & roots ICMA 2026).

Following the success of Kaliopi & The Blues Messengers in Australia—including the award-winning album The Devil's Voodoo Curse and internationally acclaimed singles “How The Caged Bird Sings” and "One Woman One Love"—Kaliopi reunited with Greece's Lava Blues to represent Greece at the 14th European Blues Challenge in 2026.
